Large Norse Viking Clasp Lead Free Pewter

This amazing cloak clasp is a substantial 5 1/2 inches long and 1 1/4 inches high, making it perfect for your wool cloak. It has 5 rings on each side to securely fasten this clasp to your cloak, and it is made from lead-free pewter in Boise, Idaho.

Because of their size, these are heavier than our other cloak clasps, and weigh about 4 ounces each.

"The banks of the Oslo Fjord in Norway were used by the Vikings for burials. The richest such burial in Scandinavia is in Oseberg. It was excavated by Gabriel Gustafson in 1904. Two women were found buried in the ship, one aged 60-70 and the other 25-30; based on this, and the name of the nearby town, some have suggested the elderly woman was Queen Aasa, mentioned in the Viking poem Ynglingatal.

The design of this clasp is based on the bed posts of a bed found in the grave."

The eyelets to fasten it down are plentiful and robust. The dual pronged clasp is sturdy and nigh immovable once hooked (no clanging as you walk.) And the asthetic is fantastic!
